Healthcare Solutions – Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Obama Administration Provides Grants for Increased Health Technology Use

The U. S. Administration has decided to provide $975 million to increase the use of health technology by helping doctors and hospitals to switch to computerized record-keeping. By 2014, the amount will be invested in the healthcare information technology making it available to over 100,000 primary care physicians and hospitals and it will train thousands of people for careers in healthcare and information technology. The White House proclaimed that the grant recipients have identified around 10,000 openings for skilled workers. The Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis, has announced that around $225 million will be spent to support 55 jobtraining programs in 30 states. The Administration said that around 15,000 people should get training in the health records technology field. Experts claim that electronic medical records help reduce medical errors and improve the quality of patient care.

The decision to invest in healthcare IT solutions is a strategic step in a healthcare organization's journey toward clinical, financial and operational excellence. But it's only the first step. Organizations often face a long road before their investment can begin to pay off - period of implementation, customization, training and adoption before the technology can drive organizational improvement.
